3 Star Tip Rating

Appropriate age group:
Toddlers

Description of tip or technique:
Young children get very bored and grumpy when traveling by car. Sitting in one spot with nothing to do for long period can get frusterating for them.

Take along some books and car toys of their choice for them to read and play with. Even a story book cassete or sing along songs on a cd or tape can keep them amused and happy. Or try playing "car" games with them such as counting how many red cars go by or I Spy.

Other comments or suggestions:
Don't bring toys that are too big or bulky or may have the child move around too much in his or her seat.
