Description of tip or technique:
It? always best to travel when your baby is likely to be most cooperative. This means that you should take your baby? schedule into account whenever possible. For example, if your baby tends to get cranky towards the end of the day, try to get an early start. Likewise, if your baby habitually falls asleep when traveling by car, plan on doing the bulk of your driving when your baby normally naps. While you may enjoy the peacefulness of a sleeping baby, keep in mind that if your child sleeps the day away he or she will be ready to play all night. With this in mind, you may wish to wake your baby once he or she has had an extended nap. Engaging your baby in stimulating play will help your baby pass the time and keep from getting bored.
Other comments or suggestions:
Being confined to a small space for extended periods of time can be challenging for adults, not to mention small children. Be prepared to allow an active toddler time to stretch and let off steam. If you?e traveling by car, this may mean that you will have to make periodic stops in addition to mealtime breaks. Of course, this will be more difficult to do when traveling by plane. Be sure to make note of when you can walk the aisles safely and take advantage of the opportunity when you can.
