Estimated time to complete activitiy:
10 minutes

Materials needed:
Discarded paperback book
Exacto knife or razor blade (adults only!)
Gel pen or colorful index cards
Gift certificate

Description:
Teachers have only so many pencils to hold, tissues to cover and notes to write. Why not give a gift which acknowledges that teachers are learners too?

Instructions:
Take a worn paperback book and cut a hiding place out of the center within which to place a bookstore gift certificate. Add a special pen or colorful index cards to the package for a real treat. Books keep on giving!

Other suggestions or comments:
As a teacher, I buy many children's books during the year to keep my "kids" reading. I love a gift certificate for books! It seems to give me permission to buy a book for myself!
