Estimated time to complete activitiy:
1 hour to do, a couple of days for firing.

Materials needed:
Go to a local Paint Your Own Pottery Shop! They have all the materials needed.

Description:
Personally painted pottery- choose a fired piece and glaze it yourself.

Instructions:
My daughters have done this before and the teachers have liked it. They choose a plate or mug and pencil on a design. This year, one daughter was "The Rainbow Fish" in the play, so she's painting her own version of the Rainbow Fish on a mug. On the other side, she's going to write something like, "To Mrs. Anderson from her favorite Rainbow Fish, Janelle 1999-2000."

Other suggestions or comments:
Have fun! But remember to allow time for the shop to fire the piece. Call ahead and see how much lead time they need for each piece.
