Estimated time to complete activitiy:
30 minutes to many hours

Materials needed:
Good quality paper
Paints
Paintbrushes
Water
Writing paper and pen
Mat board picture frame
Tissue paper and ribbon

Description:
Every teacher loves to receive art. Make a special painting to give as an end of the year gift to show your teacher you really care.

Instructions:
For the younger child:

1. Talk to your child about making a special painting for his teacher.
2. Let your child chose from finger or tempera paints.
3. Let him chose the colors for the picture.
4. Ask your child what he likes most about his teacher.
5. Write the ideas down on a piece of paper.
6. When the painting is dry, add your childĘs words to the painted paper.
7. Place in a mat board picture frame.
8. Together, wrap the picture with tissue paper and ribbon.

For the older child:

1. Take time to consider the paints, brush size, paper size and image of this special gift.
2. Have your child reflect on what her teacher means to her.
3. Consider if you want to paint a still life, self-portrait or landscape etc.
4. Take your time.
5. Once the painting is dry, add an inspirational note to let your teacher know exactly how you feel.
6. Place in a mat board picture frame.
7. Wrap with tissue paper and ribbon.
