Description of support system:
Playgroups are any gatherings of children and their caregivers on a regular basis to socialize or do a structured activity. It's a wonderful opportunity for children to play together and for their moms to meet others and make friends.

How it works:
The playgroup meets in a central location or in each others' homes once a week. They either do some sort of mom-child activity or the moms talk while the children play. Everyone takes turns hosting the group.

Other comments or suggestions:
The best place I've found to go for information about playgroups is www.onlineplaygroup.com. It has a directory of local playgroups and parents' groups plus free online tools for starting and managing a playgroup. Very helpful!
