Description of technique:
After living in the warm and compact space of your uterus for nine months, it's no surprise that many babies feel out of sorts in the vast space of a crib. During the first few weeks of his life, your baby will find comfort sleeping in the smaller space that a bassinet offers. Being swaddled in a blanket can also make your baby feel more safe and secure. Infants will let you know when they begin to feel confined, as they will kick the blankets off, letting you know that they no longer need the extra comfort of being swaddled.
Other comments or suggestions:
While stuffed animals and toys can help create a warm and cozy sleep environment, you'll want to be sure that all objects that are placed in the crib are childproof and safe for sleeping. Avoid toys that are hard or have sharp edges. Battery operated toys should never be placed inside the crib since batteries can leak toxic chemicals. Beware of pillows, dolls and stuffed animals that are oversized or heavy since they could become a suffocation hazard if they fell on top of your sleeping baby. Blankets should not be used to cover your baby until he can roll over in both directions from both front to back and visa versa.
