Estimated time to complete gift:
depends on Dad's car....
Description of gift:
Make the Dad-Mobile shine! Wash, wax, vacuum all the crumbs out, get the upholstery attachment going and do the upholstery, polish the dashboard, attack the cupholders (ewwww!) with cleanser, dump the ashtrays, wash windows inside and out, etc.
Materials:
Elbow Grease
Box (for Dad-gear that Dad may or may not want tossed out)
Car wash soap, chamois/old clean towels, mitts
Car Wax, buffing materials
A mild cleaning solution for dashboard and other plastic things, sponge/cloth
Glass cleaning solution for windows + absorbent cloth
Upholstery cleaning tools/machines (or at least a good can of cleaner that has a brush thang on the lid, and vaccuums up)
Vacuum cleaner
Goofy pine tree scent thang for the rearview mirror
Instructions:
Ask Mom or a neighbor to advise and judge the car as Finished or not. If you really Detail the interior, it should look and smell much better after you finish. Dad would almost not recognize it. This is not a job for the smallest children (inhaling the cleansers isn't recommended!), it's real Work, but several big kids could tackle it. Whup and vaccuum the floor mats; upholstery clean 'em or... if the mats are really Ancient, consider buying new mats! Maybe Mom can help there...she may have other fun chores that need doing so you can pay that back...
Other suggestions or comments:
Do Mom's car next weekend....and teens: please fill the gas tank, put the radio back on the station where Dad left it, on the lowwwww volume? Thank-yew! ;-)
Make up a classy-looking card that you can put on the seat that says "this car was detailed especially for Dad, because we Love him!" and sign it.
