1-2 hours

Description of gift:
Every dad loves to look at pictures of his kids. Why not suggest that your child make a specially designed picture frame with a favorite picture inside to give as a Fathers Day gift?

Materials:
Oak tag
Markers
Beads
Buttons
Glue
Exacto knife
Photograph
Ruler and pencil

Instructions:
1. Measure the size of your photograph, for example 5"x7". 2. Add 2 inches to each side of your picture to calculate what size the piece of oak tag will need to be to make the frame, for example 7"x9". 3. Use a ruler as a straight edge and cut 2 pieces of oak tag with an exacto knife (always have adult supervision for this task) to match your correct measurement. 4. With one of the cut pieces of oak tag, place the photograph in the center and lightly trace around the photograph. 5. Lift the photo off of the oak tag and cut out the center square (use the ruler as your straight edge to make nice clean lines). 6. Take the uncut piece of oak tag and glue a thin line around both sides and the top of the frame. 7. DON? glue the bottom side. This is how you will insert your picture 8. Let the glue dry. 9. Decorate the frame with colored markers, beads, buttons etc. 10. Slip the photo into the dried, decorated frame. 11. If you want the picture to rest on a desk or table, take a square piece of oak tag and line it up against the back of your picture frame. 12. Mark the side of oak tag that is flush against the frame. 13. Cut the square diagonally to make a triangle. 14. With the marked side of your piece of oak tag, fold a flap inward. 15. Match the flap up against the frame to ensure the fit. 16. Glue the flap to the frame, and let the glue dry.
