Description of technique:
Teenage self-expression runs the gamut from artistic creation to attention-getting rebellion. Hair color and hairstyles are among the top ten fun things to experiment with.
Now this is one where I would probably say, "I'll save my strength for the bigger battles.ö Hair grows back and can be dyed back to it's original, more natural-looking color. My biggest concern would be that kids that take stuff to the extreme and really go out of their way to look and act differently than their peers may really be crying out for some attention from you and may need help or support in other areas of their lives.
We are all living very busy, high-stress lives. Juggling responsibilities and commitments between home, work, and school is no easy task for any family. But if you find that your teenager is bordering on the extreme with their dress, hairstyles, and social life, it's probably a good idea to schedule some quality one-on-one time. Show and tell them they are important and find out what's really on their minds and going on in their lives.
