Appropriate grades or age groups:
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School

Estimated time to complete activity or implement technique:
half hour minimum reading time

Materials needed (if applicable):
school media center or other place to invite the school population and their families.

Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
Our school has a night set aside every week that families are encouraged to come by school, do AR testing, read alone or in groups, eat dinner and just visit with other families.

Other suggestions or comments:
The kids get a bonus AR point for participation if they sign in and read or test for a half hour(does not go toward reading goal). The internet is available for family use. Classes sell pizza or bake sales and kids meet their reading goals along with spending time with family without the TV etc.
