Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
It is great to read books. However, do not miss the small stuff. Take time to read signs on the road, in stores, different places that you go. When my son first began to learn to read, we would make up a story about something we did that day. For example: Mom and Tony went to the park. We fed the ducks etc...

He really loved reading about himself and enjoyed helping me write the story for the day. He enjoys reading books and now that he has learned to write he loves to write stories to read to me and his friends.
