Appropriate grades or age groups:

Estimated time to complete activity or implement technique:
no time limit

Materials needed (if applicable):
paper, markers, imagination and inspiration!

Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
Make reward charts, signs, calendars, weather stations - anything that is fun for a preschooler to want to be able to read. Hang them all over the house and encourage your child to add to them or make their own. By drawing symbols or pasting magazine pictures next to the words, the words will become familiar over time.

Our walls have been adorned with everything from potty-training charts to healthy food charts (all home-made by myself and my daughter together). She has been reading fluently since before her 4th birthday! It also helps teach math skills and encourages an interest in so many subjects.
