Materials needed (if applicable):
a notebook,a camera and film, clippings from magazines, glue or paste:Whatever tool it takes to assist children to record their own personal story.

Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
From a very early age my children loved to express themselves and tell about their ideas, observations, and interests. Their fresh points of view deserved documentation. I encouraged them to make a written record of their views and observations. These written records included comments made about their family life, their friends, the activities they enjoyed, school, and their everyday problems. The activity encouraged them to examine their lives and the world around them. Not only did this reinforce reading skills,it gave them a better understanding of the process of learning;the reason we read in the first place.
