Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
We have always tried to take whatever special interest or book with which our children are currently focused, and "run with it." When our first son was in love with a book on construction vehicles, we took him to a huge sales lot where we were allowed to climb onto the huge vehicles. Luckily, a friendly salesman was kind enough to answer all of our questions as well. Also, if our children really love a book by a certain author, we try to either purchase or check out from the library other books by the same author. For instance, our sons LOVE poetry books by Shel Silverstein, so we have collected all of his books. In kindergarten, one of our sons forgot to bring something for Show-n-Tell day, so he recited "I'm Being Eaten by a Boa-constrictor", by Silverstein, instead. (And this is a normally shy child!)

Have fun with your children!
