Appropriate grades or age groups:
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School

Estimated time to complete activity or implement technique:
5-10 minutes daily

Materials needed (if applicable):
index cards
Key ring
hole punch
markers, crayons
magnetic letters

Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
Ask them what the best word is or what word they would like to know- Children are extremely motivated to learn "their" words.
Sound out the word together as you write it on the index card. If they do not know letter sounds, just tell them the name of the letter as you write it.
They will use the card as a model as they write the word 3 times on paper using crayons, markers.... or have them use magnetic letters to "make" the word or write it in shaving cream, use alphabet stickers
BE CREATIVE
Review this word the next day and have them choose a new word to put on the index card.
Keep the cards on a key ring
