Tips to Get Kids to Read

Preschool and Younger

time it takes to read a story

Materials needed (if applicable):
book
something to use as a wand such as a store bought princess wand or even a homemade decorated wooden stick(anything children can use to point at letters or words)

Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
As you read to your child, let them hold the magic wand. At the end of each page, choose letters or words you want them to find in the story. Tell them "the magic wand will help you". They use the magic wand to point to the letters or words they find.

Other suggestions or comments:
My daughter loves the magic wand game and she's only 3 1/2!! This game has really helped me teach her letters.
