Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
Let your child suggest a tasty treat for the family to enjoy. Then enjoy watching or helping him/her read directions on a box or from a recipe to get the pots/pans, measuring spoons/cups and ingredients ready. Help when asked, but encourage your child to have fun regardless of the mess as he/her prepares the treat. There are many children's cookbooks out with easy to read recipes including pictoral aids. Your child will have fun and not feel as if this is another dreaded reading session!
