children's books and a quiet spot

Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
When my daughter got too old for naps we made naptime rest and reading time. During this time she could lay down and look at books and didn't have to go to sleep. Now that she is in Kindergarten and reading we still have rest time and she loves it. She feels it a privilege to read.
