Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
Build a bedtime reading ritual that gives you special, cozy time with your kids. This was ours:
First was bathtime. Both kids in the tub with lots of toys and bubbles. After bath we put on fresh pj's and all piled up in my bed together with as many books as we would have time to read. Each child got to choose at least one book to bring, plus I usually chose one as well. We'd read through all the books, then it was bedtime.

Other suggestions or comments:
Sometimes we would choose books of a specific category and have a celebration of that category (dragons, springtime, a particular author, etc.). My children are now 15 and 16 and we all remember those evenings with tremendous fondness. And I guess it worked--my daughter now works at our local public library!

Every now and then they'll indulge me and we'll each pick a book we especially loved and have a cozy reading time together.
