Appropriate grades or age groups:
Preschool and Younger

Estimated time to complete activity or implement technique:
1 day of shopping

Materials needed (if applicable):
Various Scholastic or Disney read-alongs to be listened to while settling down to naptime or bedtime, after any parental reading time.

Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
A nice way to calm a child and keep him/her in bed while building a great vocabulary and sentence structure.

Other suggestions or comments:
I allow my daughter to select as many books/tapes as will fit on her bed (usually 3), and she is allowed to listen to them as long as she wants during "quiet time". My son would fall asleep if I could keep him horizontal, so he usually only made it through 1 story.
