Materials needed (if applicable):
Varies by project all require a downloadable, printable children's book.

Activity set-up/instructions or description of technique:
Download and print a children's e-book. Then help your child create a cover and bind the book using one of three binding methods. Paperback, tied, or traditional. Your imagination is the only restriction. For complete details on binding methods and some ideas to get you started, visit www.instantkidsbooks.com

Other suggestions or comments:
We have seen this project improve reading levels and help to motivate young readers. For years, teachers have been helping students reading by having them write a book, create a cover, and bind a book but vocabulary was limited to the child's written language. Now, the limitations are gone with the use of ebooks. They are great for the very young as well in that if a page is torn, colored on, or eaten, just print a new page, repair the book and enjoy.
