Description of celebration or activity:
While some things are PTSA coordinated, like the brunch/luncheon, it's also the ideal time for individual families to think about how the teachers and staff have contributed to the Great Success of the past year, and honor it with a note or small tokens of their choosing. Roses and other costly items are nice, but bouquets from the garden, handmade treasures and sincere notes of thanks seem to be equally appreciated. Even better is a note of sincere and detailed praise sent on to that person's principal, superintendent, or supervisor.
Setting up or preparing for this celebration or activity:
Luncheons require scheduling, delegation of individual tasks like securing and setting up plates/cups/utensils, beverage and food platters. Awards for professional excellence require forms and procedures for nominations, review committees, and some sort of award to bestow besides a pat on the back and name in the newspaper.
Other suggestions & comments:
By the end of the year, when they are a bit tired, teachers especially need a reminder of why they chose to do all they do.
