Description of stress-relief technique for busy parents:
This is a hard-to-arrange tip, but so worth the time and effort. We became friends with another couple whose children were of similar age. Every few months, one couple would go away for the weekend while the other couple watched all the kids. It was wonderful! The benefits are obvious for the "childless" couple - R&R alone! But it also turned out to be fun for whomever had all the kids - we'd plan movies and pizza, slumber party type activities, and in general, a very kid-centered weekend. Plus, we knew OUR TURN was next! Once when money was tight, we dropped the kids off, came back home, closed the curtains, stayed in all weekend and took advantage of caller ID. Still wonderful!
Other suggestions or comments:
It goes without saying - the families have to be similar in parenting technique and outlook, and it takes time for the necessary closeness to build before the kids can be left. Find the right family to do this with!
