Description of stress-relief technique for busy parents:
I like to swim laps. Not 'cuz I am a great swimmer...nooo...
I just like the sensation of floating and drifting in Another World. When my ears are tucked into the water, submerged, I have Escaped into a place where I can meditate, sort things out.

You folks who are already great swimmers have an advantage here; for the rest of us, there are lessons. Perfection is not as important as developing your own comfortable strokes, and finding time to be with yourself.

Other suggestions or comments:
Good goggles are helpful.

I like the backstroke, and fins, but every fish in the sea gotta swim his/her own way! ;-)

Every pool has rules concerning supervision of children at the pool, designed with safety in mind. Taking the young'uns along isn't quite the same stressbuster as being able to go by yourself...but in that event, go with a Friend, and trade off the Kid Watch. (With the very youngest, water-wing kids, an adult should be able to "reach out and Touch" them at any given moment.)
