Description of stress-relief technique for busy parents:
Before you begin each day, set aside a space of time, even if only a few minutes to gather peace and energy for the day ahead. Find a little sacred corner of your home that can be all yours, at least for that time. Place a photo or beautiful object before you, or maybe sit in front of a window or go outside in warm weather. Then, take a few deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth, and focus on the beauty before you. This is a good way to begin prayer or meditation time as well.
Another suggestion is to squeeze a few drops of a citrus fruit into a warm bowl of water and breathe in the fragrance, letting it energize your insides. Focus on at least one thing you are looking forward to on this day.
In the evening before bed, establish a similar ritual of shutting down for sleep, clearing your mind of today's and tomorrow's worries, to ensure a restful sleep. Perhaps light a candle during prayer or meditation to close the day. Then place a sprig of lavender or a few drops of lavender essential oil under your pillow for added relaxation.

Using these techniques, adapting them for your own lifestyle, personal spiritual beliefs and needs will ensure that your days will be less stressful. I am a mother of 6 children, and I can tell this works, because when I forget to do it, I find myself stopping more often during the day to refocus and get back on a positive track.
