General purpose of letter:
This is a sample letter to inform the principal/guidance counselor that your child will not be attending school. This letter should be sent a week prior to the event. List contact numbers so you can be reached for any questions. As an example, this letter describes a child that will be absent due to an after school program that is taking the group to a special event. This type of letter could also be used if your child needs the day off to go to the doctorÆs office or to have special ôat riskö testing done.
Sample letter:
