Description of Earth Day activity:
Organize a group of kids from your neighborhood to help you pick out a community site that needs clean-up. If you choose, make signs about your upcoming clean-up to post around town announcing the project and inviting others in the community to join. Host a meeting of everyone interested to assign tasks (buying the garbage bags, collecting enough gloves, shovels, etc.) and to plan the event (where will you meet, how will you get to the site, how long will you spend cleaning up there, what kinds of things can you reasonably accomplish, etc.). On Earth Day, gather together your materials and crowd, meet at your chosen destination and have a blast giving something to your community as well as to the planet. Bring plenty of water and snacks if you can so everyone will stay healthy and happy during the event.
Other suggestions or comments:
If you want, have a pot-luck style barbeque at the end of the clean-up, or the following day to celebrate your great accomplishment!
