4 Star Suggestion Rating

Appropriate age groups for this Easter celebration or activity:
High School & Beyond

Description of Easter celebration or activity:
As my children grew older and refused to attend the lenghty Good Friday services held in our Roman Catholic Church, I grew desperate to find a tradition to keep this day holy and solemn. Although it seems rather unorthodox, it kept Jesus' passion and sacrifice alive and well until they came through the "questioning years" and returned to their faith. Every Good Friday, from noon until 3:00 PM, we listened to the rock opera, "Jesus Christ, Superstar."

Setting up and preparing for this celebration or activity:
Aquire music, play continuously for the 3 hours Jesus hung on the cross before he expired.

Other suggestions or comments:
As I said, this seems unorthodox, but it was a compromise that worked in the end. Since they are grown and in homes of their own, we still listen to this during the Easter season.
