Description of Easter celebration or activity:
My two boys, now ages 10 & 8, still want me to do this tradition. We've done this since they were small. I get 50 plastic eggs, divide them in half and number them. I put money, candy or a number in each egg. I make up a poem. Example: Rub-a-dub-dub, three men in a _____. They each take a turn. The answer is tub. They have to look for the egg in or near the tub. The next child goes with egg number two. I will have another poem and he has to figure out the answer. When all the eggs are done, they open up the eggs. There will be money, candy or a number inside. If they get a number in their egg, they turn that number into a prize. You can have a grab bag if children are around the same age or just give them a prize wrapped up with the number on it. It is more exciting trying to figure out the poem. If the weather is bad, I do this indoors. If the weather is good, I do it outdoors. They love this tradition that I made up. It is not your typical Easter egg hunt.
The prizes I buy them are $2.00 or less. Example of prizes: bubbles, silly putty, crayons, markers, coloring books, books, stickers, papers, scissors, stampers, pencils, colored pencils etc.
This is also a good idea for kids' birthday parties so they don't get bored.
We had years of fun doing it and I treasure these memories forever on video tape. We have taped their egg hunts since they were very young.
