Appropriate age groups for this Easter celebration or activity:
Preschool and Younger
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Description of Easter celebration or activity:
Hard-boil eggs by placing them in a saucepan (with enough water to cover them an inch above their shells) and bring water to a boil. Lower heat and let eggs sit for 15 minutes until thoroughly hard-boiled. Let eggs cool before dying.

This simple dying technique will allow kids to make neat patterns on their eggs.

Setting up and preparing for this celebration or activity:
You'll need:

several hard-boiled eggs
food coloring (various colors)
a bunch of rubber bands

1. Place different food colors in separate bowls deep enough to dip eggs. You can mix colors to create new shades (ie. blue and red to create purple) and dilute the food coloring to the shade you'd like (you can test the shade by dipping a white napkin or paper towel in).

2. Wrap rubber bands around egg, creating a striped or plaid pattern and dip the eggs in the colors.

3. Let them dry, remove the rubber bands, and you've got striped or plaid Easter eggs!
