Description of technique for dealing with temper tantrums:
Think like them... Attention!!
Do something out of the ordinary, such as walking on the furniture or start making up silly songs. Sooner or later, they will quiet down to see or hear what you are doing or saying and it will almost definitly end in belly laughs, soon forgetting what they were even crying about.

Other suggestions or comments:
Don't do something that you are not willing to let your child do because it will lead to more tears later.
