Describe the best gift you (as a mom) ever received or gave to your mother:
My nine year old son and his father (my husband) packed a picnic and took me to a nearby state park for Mother's Day last year. They even remembered to bring a blanket so I could nap after we ate. After our picnic lunch, they presented me with my gift--a set of three regulation-sized frisbees in different colors. We spent the rest of the afternoon (until dusk) playing frisbee golf on the park's frisbee golf course, something we had never done before. My husband knows that events are more exciting to me than gifts, so this was perfect for me--it enabled us to do something fun as a family.
What made this gift extra-special?
At my age, I really don't need more "things." My husband knows (and my son is learning) that I like to do things, more than receive things, for special occasions. This was a perfect gift for me because it enabled us to do something fun as a family. The gift was in the planning and coordinating (that's something that I usually do), it was terrific fun to have a family day that someone else had planned.
