Describe the best gift you (as a mom) ever received or gave to your mother:
One of the first years of being a mother, I received this beautiful yellow rhododendron bush on Mother's Day. Through the years it fought to stay alive through harsh winters and warm summer droughts, just like the hills and valleys of motherhood. Every spring it bloomed to remind me just how much we, as a family, had been through the past year and how we had grown. Now, though we no longer live in the area where my yellow rhododendron is, a special flower of any kind (especially a yellow one) reminds me of how special my children have been to me. And although we are all different, we all can survive lifes hills and valleys that are put before us.
What made this gift extra-special?
The color is unique to the rhododendron family and I thought at the time we couldn't afford such a plant, but I was surprised by the gift on Mother's Day.
