There is a new commemorative 33 cent postage stamp for the year 2000, celebrating Adoption.

Quoting the little leaflet I got at the post office this morning, "There are three basic approaches to adoption within the U.S: children can be adopted through public child welfare agencies, through private adoption agencies; and depending on the state, by independent adoption. Regardless of the adoption method, children benefit from the support, guidance, and understanding of the people who care enough to offer them unconditional love, a home, and a family. Currently, there are more than 100,000 children waiting to be adopted in this country."...
