Reading is a wonderful pastime to escape from the world on one's own. Encourage your child to get into the habit of reading on his or her own. It's a lifetime skill that will bring many years of peace of mind.

1. Provide books that your child is interested in reading.

2. Create a quiet, comfortable space where your child can travel to distant lands with a book.

3. Ask questions later in the day about how your child is enjoying the book.

4. Make time to listen and be attentive to your child? answers. You'll discover a lot more than you think about how your child thinks about and views the world through these discussions!
