Project instructions or description of technique:
There are many fun games on the market for the entire family to play to encourage the love of words. Try games like Scrabble and Yahtzee for hours of entertainment.
1. Designate a special time for the entire family to spend together.
2. Turn off the television, computer and the ringer on the phone.
3. Bring out your favorite word board games!
4. Scrabble and Yahtzee are great examples of games that enhance your children? literacy skills.
5. For the younger family member, begin by playing as a team, helping them to come up with words. As they mature, let them play alone.
6. In the beginning, try to focus the game more on learning than on competition.
7. When your children get older and can read and write well, these games can take on a whole new meaning where knowledge and wisdom are the catalysts for good, clean fun!
