30-60 minutes.

Materials needed (if applicable):
Your favorite museum or art gallery is an excellent place for your child to develop reading skills. Every exhibit has an introductory panel and plaques to be read.

1. Visit your local museum or art gallery to view new exhibits that come to your town.

2. Have your child read the introductory panel and plaques next to each art piece.

3. Discuss what the plaque has written on it.

4. Does your child think it is an appropriate title for the piece?

5. Do they like the artist? work?

6. Respond to your child? comments and give your opinions as well.

7. If there is a particular artist or piece of work that your child really likes, purchase a book about the artist or work of art so he or she can continue to read and learn more about it.
