Description of technique for teaching kids the value of money:
Teach your kids math and coin identification with this fun and valuable exercise.

For this exercise you'll need a variety of coins. Ask your child to gather some change in his or her hand without showing you what it is. (You'll probably want to start with amounts of 25 cents or less.) Ask your child to tell you how much money they have in their hand and how many coins there are. For example, "I have 12 cents and 4 coins, what coins could I have in my hand?" Practice guessing which coins they have in their hand (2 nickels and 2 pennies would be the answer).

You'll be surprised how quickly your kids will catch on, and you'll be strengthening their math skills along the way!
