Theater arts provide a great way for kids to express their creativity and have loads of fun in the process.1. Every child has an active imagination. Encourage your child to express emotion and ideas through creative play.
2. Begin by creating spaces where your child can enter imaginary worlds. Put chairs together and cloak them with a blanket to make a fort, teepee, or cave. Or, collect empty boxes and crates so they can build theater stage "walls" in the living room.
3. Supply clothes and accessories for dress-up. Any old thing will do! Hats, scarves and other accessories are always fun.
4. Encourage your child to tell you stories of adventures and to role play a character in the story.
5. Bring this activity outside and pretend to be in the jungle while at the park. Play along with your child creating imaginary worlds that you can explore together.
6. Playing house with dolls is another form of theater that imitates life and takes on a story of it's own. Play house with your kids, have imaginary tea parties, and "sail the seas" together in the living room.
7. Encouraging your child's creative mind at an early age will strengthen skills that will benefit him or her for a lifetime.
