mixing bowl
measuring cup
measuring spoons
spoon
ingredients
baking pan

Instructions or description of technique:
1. Baking is all about chemical reactions.

2. Teach your child that adding heat to mixed ingredients creates a chemical reaction.

3. Describe some of the components that help along a chemical reaction (e.g., yeast helps dough rise, salt helps water boil).

4. Make bread dough and watch it rise throughout the day.

5. Research what chemical reactions occur.

6. Apply this theory to other kinds of chemical reactions.

7. If your child shows a deeper interest, buy a simple chemistry set to explore!
