rocks
geology books
logbook
pencil
ruler

Project instructions or description of technique:
1) You?e collected your rocks and now it? time to see what you?e got.

2) Begin by categorizing the rocks into shape, size, color and texture, measure them.

3) What are the similarities and differences?

4) What happens when they get wet?

5) Record observations in logbook.

6) If your child is very interested in exploring rocks further, try identifying all the rocks collected.

7) Visit local museums where there are geological displays.

8) Check out what kinds of rocks are for sale to add to your collection.

9) Research what kinds of rocks are found in different parts of the world.
