3 Star Project Idea Rating

Appropriate grades or age groups:
Grades 6-8

Estimated time to complete this project:
As long as possible; about two months.

Materials:
teeth, selected foods (good ones are peanut butter, coffee, cheese, and potatoes), water, cups, gram scale, science log, pen or pencil.

Instructions:
Make a hypothesis if required. Put the selected foods and the water in the cups, each food to a different cup. Weigh the teeth on the gram scale and record in your science log. Make daily observations and weekly weighings and record them in the science log. At the end of the given time, make a final weighing and record it in the science log. Draw some conclusions, if required.

Other comments or suggestions:
Note: It's extremely important that you make daily observations, and that you let the teeth sit in the foods for as long as possible.
