ages 3 to 18
boys and girls
Programs and Activities Offered:
The nature of Suzuki music instruction is that the parent is involved. Parents attend this music camp with children and are instrumental in the continued home practice/learning of the instrument chosen. Often, a teenager might attend camp by themselves, depending on how long they've taken Suzuki instruction.
Instruments involved in camps can be flute, guitar, violin, viola, cello, piano. Enrichment courses are often, but not always, offered during the camp in the following: handbells, movement, chorus, percussion ensembles, improvisation, music theory.
Special Camp Features:
Parents have opportunity to meet and learn from various musicians and teachers from across the country (and sometimes from other countries). There are lectures geared towards the Suzuki Parent to give you ideas, support, and information that is invaluable.
Duration of Program and Rates:
Most camps run from Sunday afternoon to Friday evening on a given week. Students are in class for about 4-5 hours of a day somewhere between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Often, there will be the opportunity for recital performance and observing in the evenings. Most students will have an intensive "one on one" class per day, a small group class and a large group class per day, as well.
For the child who loves learning music, s/he will thrive in this atmosphere.
