Instructions for using this strategy:
Sitting down for homework with an ADHD/LD child is often a great battle. My child's greatest difficulty was sitting still, focusing on her books, keeping her chair on all four legs and her pencil in her hand. We developed the "ready position" and it has been a great help. Legs forward, chair tucked in, four chair legs on the floor, pencil in hand and book opened. Anytime I would see her attempting to rock her chair or sit on her knees I simply said, "ready position" and she was back on task and ready to go. Now it has become habit for her and homework time goes by a little less painful.
