Age group(s) for which this strategy is helpful:
Elementary School
Middle School
High School & Beyond

Instructions for using this strategy:
Include the child in some of the educational program planning. Ask for their specific areas of interest and include them as much as possible in the lesson plans. Ask the child to plan a lesson; observe what they do and how they do it. The more personalized the subjects can be made, the more interest and response the child will indicate. Ask the child to do research on a subject and then build on that information. That way the child feels part of the process - not just a receiver, but a partner or participator. Of course, the parent(s) need to maintain overall control of the process, but self-motivated learning is the goal - right?! Best of Luck!

Other information parents should consider:
Age of child
Maturity of child
Any special learning abilities/disabilities
Special circumstances - time, location, etc.
