Instructions for using this strategy:
Use a chart to record whether or not homework is completed. Print out this helpful chart or make your own:

  • List all subjects on one side of the paper and all the days on the other.
  • Write an "X" in the box for all completed assignments.
  • Leave the box blank if the homework is not done or if it? incomplete.
  • Write "NA" in the box if no homework was assigned.

    You can reward your child to help motivate her to complete her homework. Rewards--and what it takes to earn them--should be predetermined. Possible rewards are: a later bedtime; permission to watch a favorite TV show, play a computer game, do a special activity; or, spending extra time with Mom or Dad.

    Other information parents should consider:
    The chart can also be used as a self-evaluation tool. Sit down with your child at the end of each homework session and review the chart. Discuss with your child the problem areas for unfinished assignments and praise her for the ones that she? done.
