4 Star Technique Rating

Description of discipline technique:
One hand on each shoulder, look your child in the eye at his/her level. Speak calmly, but firmly, with intensity appropriate to the offense. Then redirect the child away from the offense by physically turning them toward another activity.

Appropriate age group(s):
Up to 10 or so.

Other suggestions or comments:
I don't spank, but I think parenting is a contact sport. You must be willing to get up, go over to the child, physically intervene and follow through. And do so, not after asking 100 times, but after the second request.
