Description of discipline technique:
In our house, when discipline is needed for various "violations", my children write sentences. The first "set" of sentences is a short phrase such as "I will not lie" written 100 times. This number increases every time my children tell a lie. My oldest daughter was up to 5000 before she realized that I was not going to tolerate her poor behavior. These sentences must be completed before my children are permitted to do anything else except homework and eating. This method can also be used with smaller children and substituting the sentences with x' and o's. Once my daughter decided to write the required number of sentences plus one additional sentence, which she was delighted to point out to me. Needless to say, I threw away those sentences as she did not follow directions and she had to write them again! Believe me, she never tried that "one up" tactic on me again.

I hope this works for some of you!
