3 Star Technique Rating

Description of discipline technique:
Your words and the tone in which you use them can make all the difference in the world when trying to get your child to do something they don't want to do. Get rid of the "you can't," "you never," and "you don't" and put a positive spin on your requests such as: "after you pick up your toys, you can have your friends over" or "if you help out around the yard for a few hours Saturday morning, I'll drive you and your friends to the party Saturday night" or "After I look over your homework, we can play checkers or go outside."

Appropriate age group(s):
Preschool on up.
